Oriel Dafydd Hardy is pleased to present Dulyn 08, Dublin 08, Baile Atha Cliath 08, a group exhibition of five emerging Irish artists.

The artist’s have been selected from the National College of Art and Design graduate show in Dublin, all from the Department of Painting. Within the group however many diverse mediums are used to explore a variety of concepts and subject matter. This is the first time the group is showing as professional artists as opposed to art students. and the movement from showing in an educational institution to an art gallery has been an interesting one.

Molly Mishka’s works in video installation, sculpture and drawing. Her work deals with issues of identity. By dissecting ritual she challenges accepted stereotypes and predetermined boundaries.

Sabina MacMahon’s work illustrates the fine line that exists between the apparently antonymous worlds of fact and fiction and exploits the impulse that leads us to believe that photographs communicate a kind of pictorial truth that does not accommodate grey areas.

Caroline Kennedy’s work explores the notion of reality - how it is constructed and shaped by personal fantasies, desires and points of view.

Ian O’Neill explores notions of scale and vastness, from the traditions of the Romantic Sublime, through Bachelard’s ‘intimate immensity‘, to the contemporary world of theoretical physics.
