Peter Prendergast was one of Britain’s leading landscape painters. Inspired by the surroundings of his Snowdonia home, his bold expressionist paintings are noted for their vigour and energy.
Born in Abertridwr, South Wales, in 1946, he trained at Slade School of Art, where he was taught by Frank Auerbach. He exhibited widely in Britain and abroad and his work is represented in many private and public collections including the Tate Gallery, the National Museum of Wales, Stadts Galerie, Stuttgart, the British Museum and the Arts Council Collection. Peter died suddenly in January 2007, aged 60 years.
The show represents an unique opportunity to see approximately forty paintings dating from 1967 to 2006, all of which are for sale.
There is a fully illustrated catalogue with essays by Robert Macdonald and David Alston.
