The Abertillery Blues Festival is back for its fourth year and will be held over four days from Thursday 17th July to Sunday 20th July 2008.

The main events on the Friday and Saturday will be held under a marquee in the beautiful setting of Abertillery Park, this year’s festival sees the same successful mix of Welsh, British and American Blues.

The festival has become one of the biggest Blues events in Wales and this year its going to be even bigger, one of the most popular and exciting live rhythm and blues acts in the UK, Dr Feelgood will headline the Friday evening.

Also performing on Friday, the 21st Century blues man with his harrowing guitar work – Ian Parker. Voted best UK female voice for 5 separate years by Blues in Britain – Connie Lush and last but not least the distinctive and exciting music by Storm Warning.

On the Saturday evening we have Robert Cray coming to Abertillery Park, this American Blues artist rocks, wails and plunges way down to the bottom of the blues well and is unlike anything you have heard before. Cray has won 5 Grammy’s for his soulful vocal and instrumental artistry, he has also played at the Royal Albert Hall opening a gig for Eric Clapton himself. They have played more than a thousand gigs across the world. His second album Bad Influence shot to number one in the UK indie charts while Eric Clapton paid tribute to his colleague by covering the title song. He has recorded with the Rolling Stones, B B King, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry, Bonnie Raitt along with other giants – this is a performance you would not want to miss!!

Supporting Robert Cray on the Saturday night, a fantastic line up of International Blues artists. Opening the stage the Tyler Brown Band who has been playing their individual brand of blues music around the country for the past three years. Stunningly singular talent of American blues artist, Samuel James. The Hard Travellers, this band has a fantastic line up which includes Dave Sharpe (The Alarm), Henry McCullough (Wings & Joe Cocker), Colin Allen (Dylan & Stone the Crows), Zoot Money (Animals & Big Roll Band), Gary Fletcher (The Blues Band). Last but not least Jon Cleary will also be performing.
