Performance interpreted in British sign language |
Written nearly 2500 years ago, the messages and sentiments of the story of Antigone are timeless and enduring. Sophocles’ eternal myth, pits the baser instincts of enmity and revenge against the power of love and reconciliation.
Antigone, the daughter of the cursed house of Oedipus, who must defy her king to bury her brother, the fallen leader of a failed rebellion. Today, the themes of loyalty, belief, political differences, gender and moral judgement are still contemporary issues encountered by societies worldwide.
An all female cast of final year BTEC Performing Arts students from Gorseinon College will perform in an adaptation by Bertolt Brecht, translated by Judith Malina.
