After delighting audiences with their productions of Rumplestiltskin and The Elves And The Shoemaker, Surrey’s Support Act Theatre return to Carmarthenshire theatres with what’s sure to be another enchanting production, The Sword In The Stone at Ammanford Miner’s Theatre, March 29.
Myth and magic are in the air in this tale, based on the novel by T H White, following the adventures of a young squire named Arthur and his companion, a wizard named Merlin. There’s fun and games as Arthur is unwittingly trained in the ways of magic by his friend. When the pair arrive at a tournament, one of the trials is to pull a legendary sword out of a stone. Thousands have tried – strong and dashing knights, brave muscular men – but none have succeeded and it’s not until Arthur has a go that the prophesy to crown the future king of England is fulfilled.
As always, The Sword In The Stone blends Support Act’s trademark puppetry with enchanting sets and beautiful costumes to transport the audience into the world of Arthur and Merlin. Plus there’s plenty of laughter and song along the way, captivating and capturing the imagination of the whole family.
