Blow Away the Dust

What’s On Wales

Times: 4-6pm
Prices: Free
Date: 31 May 08

As part of the 2008 May gwanwyn Festival of Arts and Creativity for Older People, organised by Age Concern Cymru with support from a variety of other organisations including the National Lottery, the Welsh Assembly Government and the Arts Council of Wales, we are trying to find older people who played musical instruments in their younger days but then gave up for whatever reason.

Gwanwyn exists to encourage the participation of older people in artistic and creative activity because of the benefits to health and wellbeing, but mostly because it is fun!

With help from some of the experienced musicians who will be playing at the evening Rhiwbina Big Night Out concert at Bethany Baptist Church, Heol Llanishen Fach on 31st May 2008 we shall be running a free teach-in Master Class on the same day to encourage people to play again.

All around Wales we believe that there are instruments and music books hidden away in cupboards and attics. We want you to.. “blow away that dust”.. and play again.

If you would then like to follow this up by taking part in the concert and play a piece of music with the Fab 40’s Big Band then you will be made very welcome, but that it is not part of the deal and it will be up to you!

So if you would like to take part please come along to the Church Hall, which has a pedestrian and car access off Heol Uchaf, Rhiwbina, Cardiff between 4pm-6pm. If you are interested it would be appreciated if you would please telephone Duncan on Cardiff 20626111 or Email him at duncan3@hotmail.co.uk so that we know you are coming and which instrument/s you will be bringing along.

We look forward to meeting you.
