’But You Promised’ is an installation which was created after the death of the artist’s mother. Viewers are drawn to a rusty oil drum through sound and imagery. This evocative and haunting installation explores universal and inescapable themes of loss and mortality.

Sue Challis is an emerging artist based in Shrewsbury and uses video, installation and performance in her multi-media work. She showed work in the Oriel Davies Open 2006, and in 2007 won the Ikon Gallery Award and the Emma Jessie Phipps Award. She graduated from UCE Birmingham Institute in 2007.
