Welsh-German artists Manon Awst and Benjamin Walther are fascinated with working processes that reveal something of the fundamental chaos and the unexpected nature of human existence. Their collaborative work combines a formal quality with an atmosphere of the mythical or surreal which never fails to create a tension between the ‘reality’ of a situation and what is beyond.
Survival of the Fittest will take the form of a site-specific installation that responds directly to Galeri Caernarfon’s close proximity to the sea. The artists are fascinated by the sea as a source of life, as well as the impact it has on mankind as an unpredictable threat and rival. Subsequently, the installation will explore the chasm between man and nature through confronting the fragile human being with the invincible forces of its environment.
