A fantastic weekend of Roman re-enactment awaits you at Caerleon Amphitheatre. Step back in time and become a spectator watching gladiators battle to the death as they would have done 2,000 years ago. See which gladiator walks away with his life and the prize. Watch how the ancient Romans and Britons would have fought – is what you see in the films real, or would fighting have been very different from Hollywood movies? Be amazed at the skill of the archers and see how much damage a javelin could do.
Find out more about everyday life as you walk around the Roman encampment. What did people eat? How did they make clothes or weapons?
Meet the Roman doctor and find out what kind of medicines and cures you would have had to suffer. Take a tour with an archaeologist around the Barracks and learn more about how the soldiers lived.
A chance for children to take part in the Junior Legion and march with a soldier in the Amphitheatre, along with a variety of hands on activities.
Come and see life 2,000 years ago and have an activity packed day out for all the family!
