When the rollercoaster ride that was The Darkness came to an abrupt end the rest of the band seemed to be staring early retirement in the face. However, out of the ashes stepped a new dawn in hard rock. With a darker edge and former bass player Richie Edwards taking over the reins on vocals and guitar, the self-confessed ’eight legged rock n roll apocalypse’ rode into town.
Less than an hour after former singer/guitarist Justin Hawkins jumped ship, plans were already in motion to get the show back on the road. What we’re left with is The Stone Gods, a darker and grittier band that are no less exhilarating and refreshing. Since the release of their limited edition EP, Burn The Witch, and the soon to be released debut album, momentum has been building for these guys to get back on the road and do what they do best and dish up some rock ’n’ roll to thrill the senses.
The wait is all but over, and with the wealth of hard experience that can be heard in Ed Graham’s voice backed with the gusto of Dan Hawkin’s distinctive guitars and a rhythm section to include such luminaries as Toby Macfarlaine purveying lower frequencies and drummer Ed graham on the skins. This is surely a scintillating new era for British rock music with well crafted edgy songs and enough charisma to fill an oil tanker.
“I just can’t wait to get out there and play these songs to people!” enthuses Richie. Neither can we guys!
