Y Gobaith a’r Angor

Welsh language production.

In a drifting uncertain world we’re all looking for an anchor, a haven, a place and people to hold on to. Some find it in love, some find it in money and some don’t find it at all. Bara Caws’ next production, ‘Y Gobaith a’r Angor’, reveals a darkly humorous but ultimately tragic slice of life in a down at heel pub in a down at heel town in North Wales.

The play, the first by the new and exciting author Dylan Rees, promises us a stool by the bar in a pub where the locals come to drown their sorrows in the place where they’d hoped to come to float their dreams. We’ll recognise them all and are probably a bit too
familiar with more of their feelings than we’d care to admit.

Looking as it does at the use and abuse of alcohol and it’s pervasive, corrosive effect,
with its rich mix of sadness and bar room repartee, the play may not be suitable for
children under twelve, but the company are confident that this play will prove popular with audiences everywhere.

The work is directed by Maldwyn John who’s links with the company date back to the early eighties and the strong cast of: Gwenno Elis-Hodgkins, Dyfrig Wyn Evans, John Glyn Owen, Huw Llyr and Gwyn Vaughan.
