Exhibitions from Award-Winning Students

The Faculty of Applied Design and Engineering at Swansea Metropolitan University is delighted to announce the graduate exhibition dates for three of its award-winning Schools.

Some of the world’s most prominent glass artists have graduated from Swansea in previous years and the Welsh School of Architectural Glass will present its next group of exciting practitioners at their 2008 graduate exhibition, ‘In Glass Houses’, which runs from Sunday 1st June until Sunday 15th June in the National Waterfront Museum.

The School has a long and illustrious history dating back to the 1930s. There is no other School of Glass in Wales and since its introduction into Swansea in the early twentieth century, the city and the School, has become world renown, with students and artists coming from all over the globe.

It is fitting that the School, which has played a big part in the development of the city over the last 70 years, is to exhibit in the iconic National Waterfront Museum where Swansea’s illustrious past is celebrated.

The public are also welcome to celebrate and support the next generation of designers who will shape our future at the School of Industrial Design graduate exhibition. It takes place from Monday 26th May until Friday 6th June, also in the National Waterfront Museum.

The wide range of skills and experience gained in the School has helped its students win an unprecedented nineteen national and international awards in the last ten years, and graduates have forged successful careers across Europe working with companies such as Ford, Lego, Jaguar, Walls, LandRover, Ecophon, IBM, Britax and Aston Martin to name but a few.

The most recent accolade came for second year automotive design student, Gareth Rees, who won the prestigious International Targa Bonetto design award in Italy.

For one night only the School of Digital Media presents its 2008 graduate exhibition which takes place in the National Waterfront Museum on Saturday 31st May, starting at 6:30pm.

This award-winning School has gained an international reputation for the quality of its courses and the graduates it produces. Leading 3D artists publication 3D World recently voted the School as one of the top ten UK institutions for computer graphic imagery (CGI).
