Photo Harmony Competition Winner

About 40 photographers attended a presentation involving the new concept of Photo Harmony. Organised by the Bridgend Camera Club and held at Coytrahen near Bridgend, the ‘5-8’ competition was open to all camera club members in South Wales affiliated to the Welsh Photographic Federation.

Described by the Royal Photographic Society as a ‘slide show of photos on a theme set to music’, the requirement of ‘Photo Harmony’ is to demonstrate skill in production and visual progression of original images.
The ensuing short digital sequence of photographs is set against and in harmony with a music track, and should display interesting transitions and effects and elements of timing.

No words or story are required, as with an ordinary AV presentation, but the sequence taken as a whole must show harmony and balance.

During the event, which involved the selection of the winner from the top 15 of the entries, a number of excellent and entertaining sequences were shown to a very interested audience.

The difficult task of judging was undertaken by Ian Bateman FRPS MPAGB, chairman of Wantage Camera Club and member of the RPS Audio Visual Distinctions panel. After the showing of each item, Ian made useful and apt comments, but saved the announcement of the winning name until the end.

Winner was David R. Neil of Eryi Photo Group who offered a stunning landscape based presentation called ‘Celtic Desires’.

Runners up were Jenny Hibbert of Bridgend Camera Club, and Mike Baker.

Highly Commended were Vernetta O’Connor of Barry Camera Club, Mike Eady, and Jeff Goodwin.
