Fans of cult television show Doctor Who will be thrilled to hear that Kylie Minogue’s frilly waitress dress from the Christmas episode is now on display at the Doctor Who exhibition at the Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff Bay.

Over twelve million viewers saw Kylie dressed in the sassy monochrome dress, as she wowed fans while playing a waitress on the Titanic during the special episode on Christmas Day. The Doctor Who exhibition also has a gold ‘host’ angel costume from the Christmas special, which has been added to their collection of props from the new series.

The Doctor Who Up Close exhibition showcases Doctor Who props, costumes and monsters and has in the past been named the number one attraction in Cardiff by The Mail on Sunday.

Martin Wilkie from Experience Design, which runs the Doctor Who exhibition, said: “The exhibition already attracts over 80,000 Doctor Who fans a month from around the UK and as far as America and Australia who want to visit Cardiff Bay where the series is filmed. With Kylie’s iconic dress here on display, I’m sure that we’ll be greeting even more fans in 2008.”

Due to such high tourist numbers, the Doctor Who Exhibition has been approved for official brown tourist signs which will be displayed in the Bay this year. The signs will feature an image of a Dalek to direct visitors to the exhibition in the Red Dragon Centre.

Emma Johnstone, Tenant Liaison and Marketing Manager at the Red Dragon Centre said: “The new Doctor Who has been an enormous tourist attraction for Cardiff Bay over the past three years, and we are delighted to have this special exhibition at the Centre.”

The Doctor Who Up Close Exhibition Cardiff is open every day from 11am to 8pm and includes an extensive sci-fi shop, featuring the largest range of Doctor Who merchandise in Cardiff with toys and collectables for every age. Tickets can be purchased on the door and each admission receives a wristband, which is valid all day. For further information please visit www.thereddragoncentre.com

Since opening at the Red Dragon Centre in December 2005, the exhibition continues to attract Doctor Who fans that dare to meet creatures such as the Cybermen, Sycorax and the strange looking Ood. Visitors can also meet K9, encounter the famous Daleks and see costumes worn by the Time Lord and his assistant – plus a range of props from throughout the series.
